AR Microwave horns take microwave coverage to a new level. Our broadband RF and microwave horn antennas are specially designed to compensate for the losses that typically occur in test systems as frequency increases.
The horn antenna may be considered as an RF transformer or impedance match between the waveguide feeder and free space. By having a tapered or having a flared end to the waveguide the horn antenna is formed and this enables the impedance to be matched.
They exhibit increasing gain with increasing frequency, up to 50 GHz. AR microwave horn antennas can be used in shielded rooms or in free space.
Although the waveguide will radiate without a horn antenna, this provides a far more efficient match.
Microwave Horn antenna advantages:
The microwave horn antenna is relatively straightforward in its appearance and as a result, its advantages may be overlooked.
Nevertheless, the horn antenna is very useful because of the properties it has:
- Wide Bandwidth: The horn antenna operates over a wide bandwidth due to its lack of resonant elements.
- Seamless Waveguide Interface: Its shape enables effortless interfacing with waveguides, while also accommodating standard coaxial feeders with a simple transition design.
- Straightforward Construction: Built with a flared horn design, these antennas are easily constructed, simplifying deployment and maintenance.
